Eaton´s new campus for its critical power systems in Vantaa, Finland, integrates all current activities into a much larger site. Campus is completed by the end of 2023, and the 16,500 m² site will house research and development, manufacturing, warehousing, sales and service under one roof and will create up to 100 additional jobs.
As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of three-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), Eaton’s expansion in this area is driven by strong business growth and the demand for systems that ensure business continuity. What you’ll do:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will make, document and test innovative mechanical designs of UPS systems and accessories. The primary function of this role is to act as a mechanical designer in R&D projects, including the following responsibilities:
Sheet metal and die cast design
Material design and surface treatment selection
Product cost optimization
DFSS tool utilization
Design for maintainability & safety
Cable and harness design
Thermal analysis & design & thermal testing
FEM analysis / Vibration, seismic, static
Specifying prototypes and building them hands on
Documenting related to mechanical, harness and assembly (BOM) design
Analyzes and solves product issues
Gives technical support on UPS systems to product management, technical support and sales.
Secondly, you will act as a system engineer in R&D projects that mainly consist of mechanical engineering tasks. The system engineer coordinates the design efforts of different engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware,…) and ensures that various aspects of the system-level design (electronics, mechanics, cooling, external interfaces,…) are fully taken into account.
Qualifications:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical engineering
Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience
Skills:
Deep understanding of material properties & manufacturing methods
Multidisciplinary (mechanical, electrical) prototyping capability
Good verbal and written communications in English
3D CAD software knowledge
Ability to work in a project team and manage multiple personal tasks under low guidance.
