This Electrical Engineer role involves collaborating with senior engineers, team leads, and SMEs to support project goals across various electrical engineering domains. Responsibilities encompass engineering studies, component analysis, real-time system testing, and specialized project support. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA. Pay Rate: $30.40 - $43.43 Benefits:

  • With manager oversight and approval:
  • Performs engineering studies and analysis to design and support high voltage substation equipment.
  • Performs electrical component and control system studies with modeling software to verify proper control behavior or to diagnose problems and develop solutions.
  • Develops and supports safety programs in the following areas:
  • Insulation coordination
  • Electrical clearances
  • Minimum approach distances for both substations and transmission lines
  • Provides specialized technical expertise and assistance that supports a wide range of system reactive projects for both system expansions and replacements.
  • Prepares design requirements, material and procurement specifications for assigned projects, ensuring that technical requirements conform to existing policies, standards, and budgetary constraints.
  • Assists in system studies, specification writing for turnkey contracts, and real time staged system testing to prove vendor compliance with specifications.
  • Verifies adherence to safety practices and standards.
  • Marks documents and maintains filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Shares and disperses documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know). Marks and maintains all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures. Validates official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes. Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (from an ABET* accredited school) is required.
  • Candidates 3 months from graduation will be considered. Proof of degree may be requested after graduation.
  • 6 months of experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system is required.
  • Basic knowledge of power system fundamentals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic transient program (EMTP/ATP) or fault studies
  • 6 months of engineering experience with Power Electronics, Transformers, batteries, or Capacitors.
  • Ability to reconcile fault record data and sequential events records with system events and disturbances to determine system performance.
  • Ability to develop and implement specifications, contracts, and equipment tests.
  • Knowledge and experience in industry standards (IEEE, NESC, etc.).
