Continental Assembly Tech - 2nd Shift (3:00pm - 1:00am, Mon-Thurs) - $15-34/hour in Valparaiso, Indiana

As an Assembly Tech 1, 2 or 3, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing machine assembly and other assembly support functions in our pumps department.

  • Supporting critical manufacturing success areas in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

  • Meeting specification requirements for the product and following defined quality system requirements (work instructions, standard work, auditing), improving indicators.

  • Using basic problem-solving skills.

  • Participating as an active member of the production team and filling in where needed.

  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS – ASSEMBLY TECH 1

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Basic assembly skills, using hand tools including wrench, screwdriver, hammer, and drill; basic measurement skills using a tape measure.

  • Basic mechanical experience.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to work 8-hour shift.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS – ASSEMBLY TECH 2

All basic qualifications required for Assembly Tech 1, and:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment assembling components.

  • Intermediate, demonstrated mechanical knowledge, including the use of bridge cranes, specialized production tooling, and torque wrenches.

  • Intermediate measurement skills using calipers.

  • Experience with the safe operation of a pallet jack.

  • Use of forklift may be required, depending on role.

  • Ability to perform tasks outside of department as needed.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in 2 or more work areas.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS – ASSEMBLY TECH 3

All basic qualifications required for Assembly Tech 1 & 2, and:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment assembling components.

  • Advanced, demonstrated mechanical knowledge.

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and/or electrical equipment issues.

  • Ability to function as back-up to Assembly Team Lead as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft applications and Outlook.

  • General understanding of basic safety procedures.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE). Company may provide assistance in acquiring HSD/HSE.

This position is on 2nd shift: 3:00 pm – 1:00 am, Monday-Thursday.

Pay rate is based on experience: $15.00 – 34.00/hour. The differential for 2nd shift is $2.00/hour!
