JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Research Marketing & Communications (http://ist.psu.edu/about/offices/communications) within OSVPR (Office of the Senior Vice President for Research) is seeking a market research part-time employee to work approximately 10-20 hours per week, primarily helping to support the Impact Mapping project – a key plan to identify and track various forms of long-term impact across the research enterprise. This person will support current marketing and communications staff. Duties include but are not limited to market research, analysis, identifying key data sources, meeting with stakeholders, collecting information, synthesizing data into spreadsheets, summarizing findings and providing reports and information.

There is potential for duties to also include other basic marketing tasks, such as planning newsletter marketing campaigns, trends for social campaigns, targeting customer segments, and analyzing lead conversion data and marketing campaign data (possibly preparing reports in systems such as PowerBI).

This position requires an understanding of market research and data collection using standard digital platforms (such as google), as well as the Microsoft suite of applications, and existing Penn State data platforms. Strong preference will be given to persons with experience in extrapolating relationships within the data, and creating relational databases out of raw data.

The ideal candidates will be persons with a background in the life sciences, analytics, marketing, communications, business, or a related field.

This is a remote (or on-site) position with opportunities for local hires to join in-person meetings and team gatherings. Candidates should plan to be available for meetings during business hours (8-5, M-F), but a bulk of the work can be completed on a flexible schedule. The candidate should be self-directed with an ability to organize and prioritize their work to meet established deadlines. Expected hours per week are 10-20.
