Role Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) of USH Events and FP&A will be a key contributor to Cost and full P&L management of the growing USH Events portfolio, including Halloween Horror Nights [HHN] and other concepts in development, as well as contributing to other FP&A priorities seasonally and as needed, which could include work with Attendance and Annual Pass forecasting.  While USH Events are typically seasonal [HHN takes place in Sept/Oct for example], financial cost and full P&L support is a year-round effort including significant planning, scope decision making, production and then operation/execution.  This role will be primarily focused on that work, including playing the broader FP&A roll-up role to look at total event financials (full P&L), but also playing a significant role with the Entertainment Production and Operations teams to enable them to produce and operate events in an optimal manner.  The role will assist with: financial reporting, month-end close, event cost accounting, quarterly pacing/estimates, financial planning (budget and re-forecasts), analysis of business trends, event profitability, cost benchmarking and process opportunities. This individual will work closely with USH FP&A, Entertainment Production, Entertainment Operations, and the broader Operational Finance teams.  Participation in other FP&A initiatives would likely broaden the exposure and work partners of the role.  This will be a 2 year contract role with the opportunity and intention to become an ongoing Headcount role within that time period given the current plans to grow the event portfolio.

 

Responsibilities

Event Cost Management:

  • Day to day Finance support for the Event Entertainment teams, partnering with them to develop and execute the right business plan for all events

  • Maintain ongoing immersion and understanding of each event, participating in creative, operational, planning, marketing, financial and other associated meetings, park walks and other engagements (including in the field).

  • Provide business guidance across a wide spectrum of choices, leveraging relationships and senior Finance leaders.

  • Meet the needs of the Entertainment, FP&A and Controllership teams, ensuring that all financial processes are executed.

Event FP&A:

  • Build and maintain event full P&Ls with all associated detail

  • Support daily/weekly reporting of event performance including to USH and Business Unit leadership

  • Partner with Operational Finance teams to compile the full event picture with significant understanding of each dept

  • Communicate trends and expectations effectively to mgmt. and FP&A leadership, including through updates/decks

Event General Finance duties:

  • Financial planning and forecasting

  • Reporting (weekly/monthly/quarterly P&L and cash flows)

  • Accounting (daily activity, monthly close)

  • Analysis (variance analyses, business case evaluation)

  • Process Improvement (financial & operational)

Other USH FP&A Support duties:

  • Contribute to FP&A priorities and initiatives as needed

  • July-December project likely to include forecasting and analysis for the Annual Pass program [cover a leave of absence]

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, with at least 2 years of relevant Finance experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including influencing a wide spectrum of customers

  • Strong Computer / Analysis Skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in using and managing budget/planning systems (SAP, Hyperion, Business Objects, Cognos, etc)

  • Resourceful problem solver, with the ability to prioritize and create approaches to meet required objectives

  • Demonstrate leadership values and ability to develop and participate in diverse/cross-functional teams

  • Ability to maintain a big picture perspective as well as be detail-oriented is essential

     

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
