Description:

-This Fleet Standards Specialist will be accountable for ensuring vehicles are ordered, received, commissioned, and allocated to the end user for the entire corporation. This includes updating and developing specifications for a wide range of vehicles and equipment working with internal customers, suppliers, and manufacturers.

-This role brings value by having one central point of contact between end user groups, Fleet, and suppliers related to fleet replacements and new vehicle acquisition.

-The individual in this role will

• Improve efficiency of fleet acquisition and specification activities including specification documentation, maintaining professional relationships with vehicle manufacturing and equipment suppliers, and managing purchase order requisitions and lead time tracking.

o Research, design, and maintain all vehicle equipment specifications through the consultation with user groups including Fleet department and suppliers.

o Analyze vehicle operating requirements to develop unique, specialized configurations and facilitate cross company standardization where appropriate and valuable.

o Communicate with current suppliers to stay up to date on lead times, product availability, and any supply chain issues.

o Create PO requisitions, initiate bid requests, create receipts when orders are received.

o Perform post-delivery specification verification of new vehicles and equipment.

• Improve collaboration and the relationships between Fleet and other business areas, related to new vehicle orders. This role will be the primary point of contact for all new vehicle activities.

o Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide a high level of customer satisfaction. This includes meeting regularly with business area leadership to discuss new fleet vehicle/equipment needs.

o Provide information and updates to business areas regarding fleet specifications, new vehicle orders, and new vehicle check in status.

o Communicate with suppliers regarding changes to specifications and new vehicle orders.

o Coordinate check-in activities with the Auto Shop, this includes providing additional upfit and accessory installation information.

o Arrange new vehicle and equipment in-service training with supplier for user groups and the Fleet department.

• Explore new vehicle technologies, including electrification of medium/heavy duty vehicles, ePTO, and idle mitigation systems.

o Participate in utility fleet networking opportunities involving fleet acquisition such as fleet forums, equipment shows, and trade organizations.

o Research publications and online resources for new applicable fleet technology.

• Report to work in the office and will be required to travel as needed.

o Occasional visits to UNS district locations.

o “Pre-paint” build inspections of new vehicles prior to final construction (if applicable).
