Summary

The Specialist, IT Infrastructure - Systems Administrator will install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the site's operating environment, ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance and security of the

infrastructure. This includes monitoring and upkeeping of the operating environments, responding to incidents & problems, planning for growth, deployment of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of PC/server operating systems, networks and related utilities and hardware. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting problems as reported by users, supporting access and services and the acquisition, replacement and decommissioning of related equipment, software and services.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

■ Participates in the development of an effective server design and strategy.

■ Provide technical support and perform maintenance.

■ Create technical documentation and knowledge base articles.

■ Provides technical guidance to customers and departmental staff on infrastructure environment issues.

■ Perform service monitoring and reporting, with a focus on risk management and compliance.

■ Explore new solutions, enhancements and opportunities for continuous improvement, projects and more.

■ Provides infrastructure troubleshooting and effective solutions to problems while minimizing downtime.

■ Installing and configuring server infrastructure equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues.

■ Monitoring server environments to improve infrastructure performance for computer systems and networks.

■ Lead projects and change management initiatives.

■ Manages external service providers.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

■ Strong customer service orientation

■ Good leadership and teamwork skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

■ Good ability to plan projects and tasks.

■ Good understanding of IT requirements for an end to end solution, including security, business continuity, disaster recovery, risk analysis and preparing business cases.

■ In-depth knowledge of the Windows OS (server and client) and the desktop operating environment. Linux and other mainstream OS knowledge is a plus.

■ Deployment and administration of Microsoft 365 environments such as Intune and Azure a plus.

■ Building and deploying file servers, print servers, DHCP, Domain Controllers etc.

■ In-depth VMware implementation and management experience mandatory.

■ Remote Desktop Server experience mandatory including management of license servers, connection brokers and session hosts to support high volume concurrent users.

■ RDP application publishing and management through locally hosted portals mandatory.

■ Active Directory management including DCs, GPOs, etc.

■ Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts.

■ Advanced knowledge of infrastructure service management, diagnostic tools and processes.

■ Advanced knowledge of end-point security management tools and processes.

■ Experience handling network security issues (viruses, malware, social engineering).

■ Understanding of IT Infrastructure asset lifecycle management (ITAM).

■ Strict adherence to corporate change management processes.

■ Knowledge of NIST 800-171, CMMC, CIS Baselines a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience.in a similar role or industry.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
