ITW QMS Manager in Troy, Ohio

The QMS Manager will address Hobart Brothers' quality assurance needs. Reporting to the Director of Quality Engineering, this position will be a key member of the Quality department leadership team. The QMS Manager will help evaluate production policies and standards related to quality assurance, provide technical support within the organization, and manage the weld technicians who support Quality Assurance and Quality Control. This position will be based in Troy, Ohio.

Essential Functions:

  • Must comply with company safety rules and regulations; must work toward company safety goals.

  • Ensure compliance to ISO 9001:2015 and other agency requirements with Stick Electrode, Solid Wire, Tubular, and Aluminum Business Units.

  • Conducts Business Reviews and briefs the leadership team on status of the quality systems and programs within the organization.

  • Performs ISO and agency audits with external auditors and reports back to business unit findings and recommendations for improvement.

  • Performs CE and EN requirements in each of the business units.

  • Leads meetings with business units to discuss findings and how to implement corrective action and improvements.

  • Train business units on quality principles, programs, and use of quality tools.

  • Ensures a proactive environment through risk management and troubleshooting to support quality and production goals.

  • Manages documents and records control according to ISO 9001:2015, ITW Legal, AWS, CE, and other agency requirements.

  • Assist with customer satisfaction metrics and product solutions.

  • Maintains a continuous process improvement that supports management goals.

  • Works with various agencies like CWB, ABS, Lloyds, BV, DNV, and Military to maintain plant audits, product approvals, and certifications.

  • Maintains knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and CE management system auditing requirements.

  • Manages Internal Audit program (conducts audits, trains auditors, and reports audit results and system status to leadership.

  • Provides technical data support with process specifications in each business unit.

  • Manage a team of Weld Technicians – Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Statistics or other relevant field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing required.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in managing teams required.

  • Minimum 3 years of ISO 9001:2015 experience + ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification.

  • Detailed knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 international standard.

  • Detailed knowledge of quality management systems.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize project assignments and daily tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Must be a team player and able to collaborate with cross functional teams at all levels of the organization.

  • Must possess excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and intrapersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and risk management/mitigation.

  • Knowledge of benchmarking in manufacturing.

  • Must be self-motivated, driven, and must maintain excellent time management skills.

  • Capable of working with minimal supervision and driving objectives to completion.

  • Working knowledge and experience with welding and filler metal specifications: AWS, ASME, ISO, and Military is preferred.

  • Code experience with different agencies filler metals specifications: CWB, ABS, Lloyds, CE, BV, and DNV is a plus.

  • A good understanding of FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW is required.

  • Intermediate to Advanced understanding of computer and web-based technology/applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
