POSITION:

Physics/Math Faculty

DUTIES:

Instruct students in assigned courses in accordance with established curriculum and college procedures. Use effective teaching methods and technologies to meet the diverse learning styles of students. Review and select appropriate textbooks and maintain classroom supplies as needed for successful teaching of assigned classes. Maintain and distribute current course syllabi using the accepted template and keep accurate records. Submit grades, schedule additions, course syllabi and other reports or required documents by established deadlines. Be aware of and follow established polices of the State Board, CCCS, and the College. Assess learning outcomes, demonstrate the use of assessment results in course planning, report and maintain assessment records, and participate in assessment activities (i.e. A day and ALTITUDE conference). Meet all classes as scheduled. Notify the Dean of Instruction if the faculty member is going to be absent from work. This notification should be made in a timely manner. If applicable, maintain regularly scheduled office hours. Discuss with appropriate personnel any problems of students, which may require special attention and provide records as needed. May serve as advisor to student organizations and interact with students outside the classroom environment via extracurricular activities. Attend all departmental, division, general faculty and staff meetings, and in-service activities. Participate in graduation exercises (attired in appropriate academic regalia). Engage in professional development activities to maintain a current knowledge of subject matter and teaching methodology. Adhere to professional standards of conduct. Be willing to work with the current director of our Robotics, Wearables, and Balloon Satellite programs and assume responsibility for these programs within a year; be willing to learn and work with the NASA Space Consortium rules and regulations; have an understanding of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics. REQUIREMENTS:

Master of Science Degree in Physics or 18 graduate hours in Physics earned from a regionally accredited institution; Must be able to teach Algebra-based and Calculus-based Physics courses, as well as Calculus. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Suite for PC/Mac; Must be agreeable to working with a diverse population and with all ranges of student abilities; and Must have a strong commitment and positive attitude toward Community College instruction.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver s License to drive a State-owned vehicle when necessary. Standing for long periods of time, including kneeling, stooping, crouching, reaching and grabbing. Must have adequate range of motion in upper extremities. Experience utilizing various electric and battery-operated floor burnisher, buffers, vacuum cleaners, wet-vacs, extractors and floor scrubbers. Occasional use of step-ladders and ladders to perform high dusting and cleaning of windows, cabinets, door frames and air vents. Operating machinery which may shake or vibrate with force such as large floor scrubbers or polishers. Exposure to dust, and fumes. Moving furniture and lifting supplies in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly. Ability to observe, recognize and address custodial needs of facilities on a daily basis and when working on specific projects. WAGE:

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually

Exempt; position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
