Spanish Peaks Purgatoire River Conservation Distri District Manager in Trinidad, Colorado
POSITION: District Manager
DUTIES: - Responsible for performing managerial, secretarial and clerical duties for a Conservation District. - Serves as building manager for the USDA Service Center. - Handles telephone and walk-ln requests for information by guiding the public to the appropriate source of information. - Types, mails and files district correspondence reports. - Prepares an agenda prior to board meetings and takes minutes of board meeting. - Orders office supplies and materials for poster contest, soil stewardship, fair, youth workshops, etc. - Makes preparations for annual meetings and coordinates arrangements for bi-annual board member elections. - Keeps and distributes district's financial records. - Prepares an annual budget and an exemption from audit or provides records for an audit. - Maintains accurate records for billing and payroll, and completes Workmen's Compensation, Unemployment insurance, Social Security, if applicable, and Tax Withholding forms. - Gathers information and attends training sessions as requested by the board. - Promotes a district information program by typing and submitting news releases, making school contacts, etc., with technical assistance from supervisors and/or NRCS staff. - Responsible for the management of all aspects of a district program. - Maintains a cooperative relationship with natural resource agencies. - Supervises district personnel. - Keeps the district board informed of actions taken, trends in conservation work that are developing, and issues which may be of interest to the district. - Coordinates district involvement and assistance in a variety of programs and activities with the NRCS district conservationist, the State Soil Conservation Board, and others.
REQUIREMENTS: - Must have a high school diploma or GED. - Valid drivers license - Must be able to pass a background check.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - Submits required reports by deadlines specified in the Soll Conservation District Handbook. - Uses the Soil Conservation District Handbook as a guide.
PREFERRED SKILLS: - Grant writing, accounting, payroll and agricultural experience - Or knowledge is extremely helpful although not required. - Self-starter and self-motivated is a must.
WAGE: $18/hr or more. Depending on Experience. Must provide three references.
SHIFTS: Part time, to be discussed at Interview.
