Maintenance Associate/Driver The Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking aMaintenance Associate. The position is supervised by the Facility Manager in conjunction with the Director of Facilities and the Warehouse Dock Coordinator, the position is critical in coordinating pickup and delivery for our Industrial Salvage Services and also helping to maintain physical facilities and properties. In addition to routine and non-routine maintenance and custodial duties the position operates Rescue Mission vehicles in compliance with all motor vehicle laws and safety requirements, maintains vehicles in a safe operating condition, and performs other duties including the loading and unloading of trucks as directed. Our dedicated staff in the Shelter and our Behavioral Health Unit offer care, support and encouragement to all that reside here. Clients/residents are assisted by staff with treatment options, medical help, job placement, financial planning, education, counseling and mental health treatment. Our staff works diligently with the clients to get ID, an income and the things necessary to help them with transitioning to become self-sufficient.

Qualifications For Position: High School diploma or Associates degree, required OR Equivalent life experience required if educational qualifications not met OR Minimum 1-2 years experience in maintenance and/or engineering field Critical thinking, equipment maintenance and selection, visualization, facility, repairingAbility to TroubleshootAbility to lift over 50 pounds. Ability to use hand and power tools, forklift and jack Basic knowledge of usage of Microsoft Office (Word an Excel) A valid driver's license Position Details: Pick-Up / Deliveries

  • Picks up donations and deliveries according to assignment

  • Loads and unloads truck to maximize volume and minimize damage to donations.

  • Cooperates with store personnel in scheduling deliveries and returns to warehouse

    Maintenance & Documentation

  • Maintains records of receipts, deliveries, fuel consumption and mileage traveled as required

  • Maintains vehicles in clean, orderly, and safe operating condition including daily inspections

  • Prepares accurate charitable donation receipt and other needs of customer contact

  • Refuels vehicle at the end of each day

    Safety

  • Oversees resident(s) assigned to route according to Rescue Mission policies

  • Completes daily safety checklist prior to leaving Rescue Mission

  • Immediately reports any deficiencies in safety or mechanical operation to supervisors

  • Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures

    Physical Facilities

  • Assists in maintaining physical facilities as necessary to ensure client, staff and customer safety and adherence to all applicable building, fire, safety and sanitary codes

  • Helps maintain vehicle fleet in good working order

  • Coordinates repairs to vehicles with vendors and reviews prices for repair services

  • Performs regular preventative maintenance on equipment or facilities

  • Performs basic machinist duties and responsibilities

  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, trouble shooting and repair of machines or equipment

  • Reads and interrupts equipment manuals/work orders to perform maintenance and service

  • Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions

  • Uses hand/power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties

  • Assists in supervision and training of residents in work therapy program

    Miscellaneous

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Schedule: Monday - Friday 8a-4p Hourly Rate: $19 plus an additional $1.00 per hour worked paid out quarterly.
