Job Description:
As a Business Application Solutions team member in the Technology Services Division, the Systems Integrator 2 will provide systems and services analysis, computer programming expertise, and application development and sustainment advice.
Major Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Conducts feasibility studies on business opportunities & challenges.
Assesses, analyzes, evaluates and recommends UI process & policy alternatives.
Provides inputs on improvements on UI Design to current business environment & processes.
Recommend improvements to current methodology, process, standards, and policies.
Liaises and coordinates with internal & external groups on the accomplishment of deliverables.
Facilitates collection of business requirements and build consensus amongst clients on accomplishing deliverables.
Prepares Business Case, Business Requirements, Gap Analysis, Logical Data Models and Design documents for proposed solutions.
Provides inputs to Data Management teams on the transformation of clients' business requirements as represented by logical data models into physical data models.
Designs and implements business & data/information requirements into databases or file management systems.
Develops programs to translate business requirements & designs into information systems.
Prepares test data as it relates to UI Design.
Conducts testing of programs and systems for the unit, system, performance, usability, user acceptance, disaster recovery and implementation tests to ensure technology solutions align with business goals.
Prepares test strategy, test cases & test scripts for system, performance, usability and acceptance testing of system solutions developed.
Participates in a walk-through of deliverables to identify potential problems.
Prepares implementation & rollout strategies and plans.
Prepares documentation for systems to facilitate the transfer of knowledge.
Provides inputs to "Go / No Go" cut-over decisions e.g. rollouts.
Travels to off-site locations, if required.
Key Qualifications:
Your application for the role of Systems Integrator 2 should describe your qualifications as they relate to:
Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related discipline with extensive development/sustainment experience in large-scale IT solutions, or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Considerable experience in application support and administration.
Considerable experience in data analysis, using Oracle PL/SQL coding techniques to extract information, business trends, insights and metrics from data stored in the database.
Considerable experience in gathering and documenting business requirements and identifying root causes to ensure business needs are clearly defined and addressed.
Considerable experience in developing work package documentation, including design, data modelling, test plans and test cases.
Experience with a variety of software packages, including MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), process design software (e.g., Visio), software requirements management and quality assurance tools (e.g., HP Quality Center), Issue Tracking / Management software (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence), project management software (e.g., MS Project), software version control (e.g., GitHub) and business intelligence (e.g., Crystal Reports).
You must also have:
Broad working knowledge of Work and Asset Management Systems, technologies, and large enterprise multi-platform applications such as IBM Maximo EAM.
Knowledge of application architecture creation using structured systems analysis and design techniques, systems development methodologies and templates.
Proven technical skills to develop effective, efficient and high performance solutions to meet complex application requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, leadership, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service orientation along with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Ability to work effectively as a team member, collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently, as required.
Advanced time management and estimation capabilities, and ability to perform several tasks and projects concurrently.
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and skills to evaluate and recommend new technology for introducing a complex technical environment.
Ability to work flexible hours including days, afternoons, nights and weekends, as required.
Ability to be on call for support of production systems, as required.
Ability to travel across various office locations within the City of Toronto, as required.
