The Team and Job Summary

We are seeking senior Electrical Forensic Engineers to enhance our already robust team of professionals supporting our clients in Canada. The role includes managerial and business development duties. Our engineers perform MEP & industrial system & equipment property loss-related forensic analysis, prepare technical reports of our findings, conduct property loss evaluations, develop repair scopes, analysis of applicable codes & standards, serve as expert witnesses. Our areas of practice include residential, commercial and industrial hazard assessments and resulting damage; design and construction defect evaluation; and premise liability evaluations. Assignments will require regular local and regional travel to project sites. Active involvement in professional associations and societies is encouraged and supported.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections and loss analysis, testing, and data collection

  • Prepare technical reports detailing cause of damage / failure, damage observed, and test results

  • Perform desk reviews and field assessments of property loss to develop repair scope

  • Work with insured and contractors to reach agreement on scope of repairs

  • Review and analyze building codes and industry standards, working with code officials as needed, to identify system requirements

  • Present analysis and assessment findings to colleagues and clients

  • Conduct research and develop technical topics for publication

  • Provide technical direction to consultants within the Practice Group.

  • Conducts technical reviews for their direct reports, indirect reports, and others.

  • Review legal documents, pleadings, contracts, etc. in order to identify the underlying issues and factual evidence

  • Collaborates with other senior engineers in document review, root cause analysis and standard of care assessment in large construction projects

  • Engages in client-relations marketing and meets with and presents to peers and clients

  • Maintains high standards and ensures the quality of deliverables

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering in Electrical/Construction

  • Eng license with good standing (required)

  • 15 or more years of electrical equipment / system design or production / construction experience (required)

  • At least 5 years’ experience conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations (required)

  • Experience in engineering design or construction (required)

  • Testimony experience as a as engineering expert witness (plus)

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Computer skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • A desire to learn, excel and grow with us and within the profession.

  • Ability to travel as needed, depending on project assignments
