PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC) is a part of the Office of the CEO Board area, and reports to both the CEO and the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board. Our mission is to advance SAPs business goals by promoting a culture of integrity, and by mitigating a defined set of legal risks. The OEC is responsible for various SAP compliance initiatives, including oversight and support of the SAP Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, employee compliance training and communications, and the global governance framework. We also monitor and enforce compliance with relevant company policies and procedures. Our focus includes compliance with the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act), UK Bribery Act, and other global anti-corruption and bribery laws. In this role, you will work on company policies and procedural change. It liaises with multiple areas to align compliance policies. The position reports to the Regional Compliance Officer, Americas, and enjoys excellent exposure within the business.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership in managing a dynamic landscape, with support and guidance from the North America and Global OEC Leadership. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Administer policies on compliance topics including avoidance of bribery and corruption, handling confidentiality and conflicts of interest, doing business with government customers, fraud in the contracting process, general fraud, etc.

  • Directly support the legal compliance aspects of managing third party relationships

  • Review and analyze donation, sponsorship, membership requests.

  • Proper administration of SAP Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and ensuring single point of contact for issues relating to the Code.

  • Interact with employees to clarify questions regarding SAP Policies.

  • Manage adoption and localization of global projects.

  • Monitor changes to legal and regulatory climate/guidelines applicable to the company and proactively develop solutions.

  • Effectively channel inquiries and complaints; provide clarification & advice; assist in effective response mechanism.

  • Monitor compliance trends globally, including compliance initiatives, industry compliance failures and other internal and external Compliance trends to provide insight for leadership knowledge forums, newsletters, and employee groups.

  • Track and report compliance issues to OEC management on a periodic basis

  • Support OEC investigations and administer appropriate consequence management for employees and third parties.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Full proficiency with English is required.

  • Accredited lawyer or certified compliance professional is preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of specific experience in a legal, compliance or organizational governance setting

  • Hands-on with extreme attention to detail and written documentation

  • Ability to do in-depth research and to interpret written guidelines and documents.

  • Proactive, dynamic, and result-driven individual

  • Strong grasp of code of conduct, business ethics policies and current compliance trends

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex issues and recommend solutions.

  • Experience in the areas of detection and prevention of fraud or corruption

  • Demonstrated ability to work with international, virtual teams with sensitivity to cultural differences.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills required.

  • Ability and experience to interact with senior management is essential.

  • Experience with delivering live or virtual training is preferred.

  • Comfortable in MS Office tools and IT business environment

  • Previous experience in the IT industry is preferred.

  • Experience designing and documenting business processes and analyzing related gaps.

SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAPs commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 148,200 - 338,600 CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount, and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
