What you'll be doing
The Advanced Analytics and AI team is the central hub of data science and AI expertise within CIBC, and is leading the way to apply the best practices in predictive science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and leverage the latest in big data technology platforms. We also engage in collaborations with the leading academic institutes in the space of AI and machine learning to promote the exchange of latest technology developments and enrich our talents. Reporting into the Sr. Director of Advanced Analytics & AI, this role is responsible leading and delivering complex models and AI solutions to support CIBC Fraud initiatives. This Director will lead, manage and mentor a team of Junior and Senior Fraud AI Scientists. A strong background in Fraud related AI is essential for this role.

How You’ll Succeed
Champion the use of Advanced Analytics and AI to solve Fraud related business problems - Work with Fraud leaders to understand their needs, opportunities and pain points. Become the trusted Advanced Analytic & AI partner and successfully manage and deliver on key analytical initiatives. Ensure the solutions are fit-for-purpose.
Oversee and complete the implementation and evaluation of proposed AI solutions - Lead the team to create, validate and monitor both traditional AI/ML and GenAI based solutions that deal with both structured and unstructured data sets. Provide the solution end-to-end from scoping to completion. Refresh or revise the solution as business needs evolve or based on the monitoring results. Comprehensive knowledge of fraud modelling including a successful track record of collaborating with groups, such as Information Security, Architecture, Risk and Technology.
Provide effective leadership- Lead a high performing functional team, develop team and individual’s capabilities by coaching and providing training and learning opportunities. Hire the right talent that align with individual competencies with job requirements and business goals. Set appropriate context to ensure the team’s alignment to the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals. Manage performance by providing constructive and fair feedback through ongoing touchpoints and year end process. Remove obstacles and set expectations that align with business objective. Ensure team members are following the responsible use of AI and Data best practices in their day-to-day responsibilities, by adhering to various CIBC policies, guidelines and standards.
Who You Are
You demonstrate advanced knowledge of traditional AI techniques in the fraud space, prediction, classification, forecasting, optimization, and/or GenAI techniques. At least 10 years of experience working in an AI/ML or advanced analytics function. 3 years of experience developing and delivering fraud AI/ML solutions/use cases, related to anomaly detection, false positive reduction, model performance optimization, etc.. Proven track record of designing and solutioning complex fraud-based AI products.
Develop, predictive models aligned to internal fraud strategies for wire, cheque deposit, account takeover, scams, etc. leveraging data mining techniques and advanced analytics skills.
You have extensive hands-on experience with modern data science and machine learning languages and toolkits including: Python, Pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, Pytorch, and various LLMs.
You’re a certified professional . You have an M.S. or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree.
You have experience in fintech platforms involving debit/credit card payments, wallets, or digital payments.
You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop unique solutions to complex and abstract issues and to provide interpretive advice to business and functional leaders.
Strong influential/negotiations skills sufficient to recognize and respond to concerns of multiple interests and to lead/shape the decision making process in situations that involve complexity and ambiguity
