Title and Summary

Director, Account Management

Overview:

Our Canadian Market Development team is continually striving to deliver world-class solutions to our partners in the merchant community, and we are seeking highly motivated individuals who are results-driven, endlessly curious, and skilled at building rapport with both external partners and cross-functional colleagues. Reporting to the Vice President of Merchants, Co-brands, and Digital Partnerships, the Director, Account Management, will work diligently to maintain and expand our relationships with key customers in the Canada region to uncover new revenue opportunities while driving Mastercard’s strategy forward. Our team focuses on delivering customized solutions in several areas including loyalty, personalization, cybersecurity and intelligence, data and analytics, consulting, and marketing services.

Role:

• Establishes strong relationships with C-Level contacts, creating cohesive partnerships and repeatable revenue opportunities with Mastercard’s largest customers in the merchant, co-brand, and digital space

• Provides superior strategic account management driven by robust planning – building a deep understanding of customer needs and partnering with cross-functional colleagues in Data & Services, Product, and Marketing, to present solutions that customers will perceive as meeting or exceeding their business objectives

• Leverages and applies industry knowledge, expertise, and thought leadership to deepen customer relationships, refine deal strategies, create competitive offerings, establish value propositions, and ultimately close high-priority deals

• Negotiates, executes, and manages the customer contract agreement process, ensuring global linkage of resources and information sharing

• Develops account plans and maintains a detailed opportunity pipeline, utilizing

CRM platform

• Mentors and shares best practices with other members of the Market Development team to evolve and improve the way we engage with our customers

All About You:

• Takes a consultative approach to sales, with a demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing complex, competitive deals

• Experience in the retail or travel industries with responsibility for payments, co-brand and customer insights is desirable, as is a keen understanding of loyalty, personalization, and marketing

• Demonstrated thought leadership, coaching, and management skills

• Experience with profitability modeling, financial forecasting and competitive analysis in order to develop detailed business cases

• Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, and a proven track record of creating solutions that increase revenue

• Proven ability to translate data into insights, and communicate recommendations to customers in a way that’s easy to understand

• Bachelor’s degree
