POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC Advisory Services help Canadian entrepreneurs acquire the knowledge and know-how to build strong, successful businesses by providing them with practical advice through management consulting solutions.

The Senior Client Partner, BDC Advisory Services is responsible for building, maintaining, and nurturing and growing relationships with entrepreneurs in supporting their needs. The role entails serving as a business growth architect, strategist, and trusted advisor. The primary responsibility is to undertake business development activities and win opportunities assessing and serving entrepreneurs. In addition, they will propose advisory services ultimately to increase and ensure the nurturing of Canadian entrepreneurs’ businesses. The Client Partner will be responsible for the effective coordination and completion of BDC’s Advisory Services offerings. Specifically, they will work closely with the Advisory Services delivery teams and with the Bank’s Financing organization to ensure proper deployment of advisory services, client satisfaction and achievement of sales targets.

You will be working with cross-functional teams to generate impact and support BDC’s commitment in making Canadian entrepreneurs become the 1st in the world. CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Act as a key team member with BDC Advisory Services and continuously carry out business development activities to maintain and nurture a solid pipeline of opportunities in order to achieve yearly sales and revenue objectives. Adopt a value-added business (or sales) approach by conducting research and compiling strategic intelligence on clients, their business lines and economic and market trends. Through strategic questioning, discussion, and the use of diagnostic tools, assess clients’ business requirements and prioritize them to increase clients’ competitiveness and recommend the right advisory solutions.

  • Act as a BDC Advisory Services contact and manage the client experience; working closely with the appropriate delivery team and other internal stakeholders, ensure quality proposal development, smooth delivery of solutions and client satisfaction.

  • Develop a growing role as your client’s “go to” trusted advisor for general business advice that extends beyond the immediate scope of the project and aligns with their strategic plan.

  • Manage and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal stakeholders in and beyond BDC Advisory Services.

  • Continuously improve knowledge on areas pertaining to the economic conditions and key industry sectors within assigned geographical territory.

  • Regularly gather market intelligence to stay aware of the changing needs and issues of businesses in the region.

  • Leverage corporate assets and cross-functional capabilities to ensure maximized client value and develop additional BDC opportunities.

  • Stay up to date on BDC’s systems and technology environment, policies and procedures, norms and BDC Advisory Services offers and solutions as well as general knowledge on other business lines offerings.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

If you can answer YES to the following questions, you may be just the person we are looking for.

  • Bachelor’s degree coupled with professional credentials such as MBA, CPA, PMP and/or CMC

  • Experience in business development within the services sector or within a consulting firm

  • You feel accomplished when things are done alone or within a team

  • Proven track record of a “results orientation”

  • Experience with or in the financial services sector (banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital) and with local entrepreneurs from SMEs is an asset

  • Experience with a wide array of industries is an asset as well as developing new business and maintaining existing clients

  • Possess a rich network and influence within your local region

  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking abilities

  • Passion for creative solutions, resolving conflicts and bring a positive attitude to a team

  • Strategic insight and high emotional intelligence

  • World-class client service orientation

  • Exemplary communication and negotiation skills

  • Being able to understand and navigate through a corporate environment

  • Marked ability to build and maintain productive relationships and to work with internal colleagues and client groups at all levels

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in both official languages (English & French) is a strong asset.
