Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. The Conference & Social Sales Manager reports to the Director of Catering & Convention Services, this position is primarily responsible for the coordination and finalization of all event details with the client. Co-ordinates with Sales, Banquets, Food & Beverage, Rooms and other departments to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout the pre-event, event and post-event phases of property events. Support sales in terms of booking/prospecting for Social Events and Weddings to increase sales and event opportunities for the Hotel.

• As the Conference liaison, you will facilitate program logistics including event set-ups, food and beverage, telecommunications, guestroom blocks, exhibits and third-party relationships, to ensure optimum use of event space for the client

• This position includes the ability to detail client food, beverage and rooms requirements and communicate full expectations within the hotel

• Detail any bookings from the Sales team and as assigned by the Director of Catering & Convention Services

• Prospect/develop social catering events for the Hotel

• Focus on Social catering, helping to capture in-bound leads for birthdays, bridal showers, festive parties and weddings. Support the SMERF market – sports team room blocks – capitalize on this market, and sell the Hospitality team rooms with Food & Beverage. Develop price sensitive menus to service this market while maintaining food profit margins

• Increase incremental revenue by upselling to group bookings

• Work closely with Director of Catering & Convention Services on establishing special menus, theme events while maintaining service standards for the Hotel

• Distribute consistent and concise resumes and banquet event orders clearly defining every requirement for all departments

• Drive ESS focus allowing the entire Events team to provide improved overall service and increase touch points with clients

• Conduct pre/post event meetings to review the group needs or feedback

• Monitor group pick-up and ensure group wash is accurate

• Work close with the Sales team to ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out(including the management of Guest room attrition and follow-up on deposit schedules, along with final billing confirmation)

• Maintain files, records and reports as it pertains to planning activities, time lines, contracts, purchase orders, and post event meeting notes

• Attend/participate in meetings to review event logistics and communicate accurate last- minute changes to all departments

• Participate in client site inspections and assist with the sales process when required

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of three-years relevant event management experience in a full-service hotel or conference facility.

• Extensive knowledge of food and beverage trends

• Previous catering or events sales experience an asset

• Experience with Opera, CI/TY, Microsoft Windows and Excel is preferred

• Strong knowledge of hotel services and banquet operations

• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

• Excellent customer service skills, highly motivated and results orientated individual

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• May be required to work weekends or evenings depending on Event Planner needs
