Overview .

Responsibilities Teach and assist with the maintenance and development of the lab component for the following courses:

* * Human Anatomy * Human Physiology * Elementary Microbiology. Depending on the lab taught, the successful candidate will:

  • Teach laboratory sessions for Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Microbiology at the Utah State University Tooele Campus. To do so effectively, you are to communicate with the course instructors on a weekly basis and attend a coordination meeting with course instructors at the beginning of each semester. Aid in the maintenance and development of lab curriculum. 75%
  • Evaluate the needs of students and hold regularly scheduled review sessions to assist in the learning experience. Interact with students through e-mail or other available means. Proctor and grade lab tests/quizzes and exercises as needed. 10%
  • Order materials and ensure that the necessary supplies are at hand for each lab experiment. Prepare media and microbial cultures and aid in the dissection of cadavers 10%
  • Ensure that students receive adequate laboratory safety training and maintain laboratory safety protocols. Keep laboratory and equipment in good working order and arrange for professional servicing of equipment as needed. Autoclave and discard used microbial media and other biohazard waste 5%

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Biology or related field.
  • Excellence as a student in prior coursework in Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, or Microbiology courses is highly preferred.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Flexible work schedule. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology or related field.

  • Teaching experience in higher education, particularly in Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and/or Microbiology.
  • Experience teaching nontraditional students.
  • Experience prepping and dissecting human cadavers (additional compensation is offered for this task).
