Key job responsibilities

We’re looking for an experienced content acquisition manager to join our team in Japan. In this role, you will collaborate with key content partners to ensure our customers always have access to the music they love. The Sr. CAM will be responsible for developing our licensing strategy, securing necessary rights, and achieving financial targets. The ideal candidate will have experience negotiating complex licensing agreements, developing new business models, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Negotiate license agreements to secure all necessary rights from record label and collection societies.

  • Execute mid to large-sized opportunities independently in support of larger team initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key content providers at the decision-making level.

  • Collaborate with our Legal team to review contractual terms and conditions relating to content licensing agreements.

  • Collaborate with our Finance to perform analysis to quantify the impact of royalty models, and other terms that are negotiated with record labels globally.

  • Develop and document a licensing strategy, acquisition plans, financial metrics and goals for senior management.

  • Work closely with internal teams including Product, BI and Marketing, to achieve positive negotiation outcomes for Amazon and content providers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in content negotiation, acquisition or business development

  • Experience negotiating complex agreements with a firm understanding of legal terminology and reasoning

  • Strong quantitative analysis, problem solving and project management skills.

  • Professional-level Japanese & English language skills for external negotiation and internal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of digital music services and business models.

  • Excellent business judgement and the ability to drive both strategic and tactical decisions.

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities through work prioritization and planning.

  • Ability to respond at speed to evolving threats and opportunities to the business.

  • Self-starter who is customer obsessed, detail-oriented, and an enthusiastic team player.

  • Experience in writing detailed and data-supported documents.

  • BA/BS Required.
