Netflix Launch Manager, Product Discovery & Promotion - Japan in Tokyo, Japan

The Launch Management team in Japan ensures that we launch the portfolio of Japan titles at the highest quality and in the most efficient way possible to maximize member joy.

The Launch Manager role is unique as its scope requires a deep understanding of Product behavior and a mindset that is equally precise on local execution as it is on strategic judgment calls. The LM’s role is to optimize the content and product strategy, and we do this via effective management of titles, leading cross-functional and partner teams alignment, and being part of initiatives on innovating and productizing new Product experiences. Thorough knowledge of the local content strategy, connecting business nuances with content and member experiences, and technical troubleshooting paired with strong partnership investment with stakeholders will be critical to your success.

You will be part of a larger Product Discovery and Promotion (PDP) team that will innovate approaches, develop scalable solutions, work with teams to drive promotional impact on the Netflix experience, and drive excellence in every single one of our launches so that we can work smarter, increase efficiency and more importantly increase joy for our consumers on the Netflix platform.This role is based in Tokyo and focused on supporting the Japanese content slate.

In this role, you will:

  • Own a portfolio of titles within the Japanese content slate. While multiple teams (internal or external) get involved at different times along the launch journey for deliverables, you will be overseeing the quality of the launch.

  • Be an expert of the Netflix product and advise our stakeholders on means to improve how members interact with the title on the Netflix platform.

  • Maintain the quality of the launch and mitigate risk to launch by being proactive, exercising sound judgment, and informing and influencing stakeholders.

  • Partner with internal and external teams and serve as the primary point of contact on, and architect of strategic operational matters for the title.

  • Constantly evaluate our workflows with the intention of improving our efficiency and effectiveness in launching titles.

  • Troubleshoot urgent issues cross-functionally and jump in operationally as needed, in service of the member experience

The ideal candidate:

  • A good balance of left and right brain thinking - with the ability to understand the pulse of our consumers and put oneself in the consumers shoes, an appreciation of content nuances and needs, be data-fluent, develop a fluency in product logic/principles.

  • 6-8 years experience in project/ program management, ideally in a fast-moving environment.

  • Possesses an analytical mindset and a bias towards solving for impact and scale.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills (clear communication style and strong ability to influence) and a good team player.

  • A passion for operations and a thirst to do more with less, to work smarter not harder.

  • Be self motivated and demonstrate strong proactivity to take accountability and drive initiatives.

  • Japanese & English fluency (business level) - written and spoken.

  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.

  • Passion for entertainment / contents including Anime
