How will you make an impact in this role?

The Credit and Fraud Risk team is seeking an Analyst with a primary focus on Card Lending products (Revolve and Installment). The successful candidate will be a key contributor to drive improvements within American Express’s Consumer and Commercial card risk lending strategies and customer experiences.

You will be exposed to stimulating challenges and opportunities to drive impactful change in an environment focused on innovation within a high growth market, and region for American Express.

Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Collaborate on the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of novel risk strategies and initiatives for the Japan Lending portfolio to profitably grow the business.

  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues from the Central Risk Management organization, as well as Operations, Product , Marketing,and external partners to drive enterprise wise success for the market, developing a holistic understanding of the enterprise.

  • Closely monitor key lending credit performance metrics, and the implications on trends, diagnosing problems and identifying opportunities.

  • Support product, and marketing partners on optimizing profit by balancing growth and credit risk.

  • Passion to deeply understand the market landscape, regulator requirements, and competitor practices and seek opportunities for innovation.

  • Develop expert knowledge of American Express systems and infrastructure, and leverage this knowledge to define solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence diverse audiences in a cross-functional team environment

  • A passion for solving problems with data, technical know-how, and strong attention to detail

  • Experience as a self-starter, with ability to analyze data and derive meaningful insights to affect business outcomes

  • Ability to drive change by quickly learning from the customer experience, market environment, regulatory context, and operations

  • Experience with statistical programming language e.g. SAS, SQL, R, Python or willingness and ability to become proficient

  • Experience working with card lending products under the Installment Sales Law is a plus

  • Proficiency in Japanese and English

  • Bachelor's degree
