Description
The Telecom Technician Installs; troubleshoots and repairs customers' Intermedia Elevate and Allworx phone services. Performs site surveys, and assists in system migrations, installs, provisions, tests, and maintains services/equipment. Periodic work installing or troubleshooting wiring projects, including fiber optic cabling or cat 5/6 wiring is required. This role requires travel to client sites throughout Illinois and parts of Indiana. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be necessary on certain projects.
Responsibilities
Design/Install, program, and troubleshoot phone systems for new and existing clients (Allworx, Elevate)
Set up and troubleshoot network/line services and connections, and work with vendors where necessary.
Set up VOIP/Hosted services (Intermedia)
Help desk responsibilities completing existing customers’ trouble tickets.
Provide accurate documentation of customer’s service and equipment config.
Maintain a high level of communication with customers, vendors, and the internal team on project status.
Train customers on how to use the system after deployment.
Coordinate between departments when needed
Cross-train other team members as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Previous experience in telecom
Strong communication and organizational skills
Previous networking knowledge of VOIP systems/services
Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Ability to climb stairs and ladder
Must be able to work in confined spaces such as but not limited to server closets, under desks, etc.
Preferred Skills
SIP / T1 PRI trunks, line service troubleshooting.
Service porting
Previous experience installing and supporting Allworx and Elevate (hosted) phone systems
Setup and deploy IP cameras (Verkada, vendor-specific training provided)
Some understanding of access control is a plus. (Verkada, vendor-specific training provided)
