Job Description
WHAT’S THE JOB?
As the Remote Camp Kitchen Assistant, you are responsible for assisting the Chef in the preparation of all daily menu items as needed in the camp, including grab and go lunch items, salads, scratch-made baking items, and more.
The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:
All meals, beverages and accommodations provided free of charge
Access to Wi-Fi site-wide
Access to laundry facilities and detergents
Access to a gym
Use of lounge area with gaming consoles, pool table, big-screen TV with satellite, sauna, and more!
Key Responsibilities include:
Meet daily with the Chef to discuss menu preparation and production strategy
Assist the Chef in the preparation of all menu items as needed
Responsible for the production of a variety of scratch-made baking items including muffins, loafs, cookies, cakes and pastries
Daily production of grab and go lunch items, including a variety of sandwiches, salads and other items
Assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen and serving areas
Follow proper storage and rotation of all food supplies
Actively participating in and contributing to a positive safety culture on the project while following all Outland-Horizon North and Wyloo Canada’s safe work practices and procedures, wearing and maintaining required PPE and participating in safety meetings and training, as required
Can be responsible for preparing and serving hot breakfast
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You have a Remote Cook Certificate and/or Culinary Diploma with previous remote camp experience (asset)
It's an asset if you are Red Seal Certified!
You have a Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate (required)
Have knowledge of and previous experience with producing a variety of scratch made baking items
Must have an acceptable Criminal Records Check
You are a highly responsible, team-oriented person who can prioritize tasks and maintain calm in stressful situations
You have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (word and excel), Microsoft Teams and email proficiency (Outlook)
You have the ability to work efficiently and productively both independently and as part of a team
You have the ability to handle the following physical demands:
Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
Climb ladders or stairs
Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
Perform work with arms at full length and with arms above shoulder height

Work Schedule and Remuneration:
Remote Kitchen Assistants work rotational schedules of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off. You may be required to work weekdays, weekends and general holidays.
Wages are paid on an hourly basis with an included starting rate of $25.00/hour.
