Splunk is looking for a Senior Manager to provide day-to-day leadership in our Splunk CloudOps team. As a senior manager of Global Change, you'll lead a team responsible for evaluating the current tools and workflows for the broader global change team to bring operational efficiencies and workflows to our ever growing teams and customer base. You'll use metrics to plan, implement, automate, and continually improve processes that lead to an improvement in overall MTTR. We need a strong leader to bring a fresh approach to problems of all shapes and sizes and help us build a top-notch team.

Meet the team:

The CloudOps team is a segment of the Core Platform organization. Core Platform provides crucial tools, services, and infrastructure to ensure the healthy and resilient operation of our SaaS and server environments, while also delivering, managing, and optimizing the Splunk SaaS platform. Our mission is to create a robust and efficient operational framework that facilitates the seamless delivery of high-quality cloud services to our customers.

The CloudOps team implements all customer-initiated and Splunk-initiated changes for commercial environments. This team validates changes, schedules, communicates and coordinates with customers, completes changes, and performs post-implementation reviews.

Our main partners are Support, Customer Success, TechOps, Cloud Change Management, Release Management and other Core and Platform engineering teams. This is an incredible opportunity to use your existing leadership and cloud experience to drive the growth of the organization.

Role:

Our organization is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead, develop, and mentor a team responsible for managing the workflows and operational systems related to the delivery of Splunk’s SaaS customer facing systems. This Senior Manager will be a visionary leader, dedicated to fostering a collaborative, dynamic, and enjoyable team environment. They will be passionate about creating and refining processes to enhance team well-being and identify solutions that boost efficiency and effectiveness, enabling us to scale our services effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Apply program management methodologies to lead high-visibility projects associated with product releases in a SaaS environment

  • Demonstrate experience with Cloud Service Providers, particularly with major platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure

  • Possess a solid technical background, including knowledge of security, performance standards, and disaster recovery protocols. Understand code development, branching strategies, and deployment pipelines

  • Collaborate effectively with Support, Release Management, Cloud Change, TechOps teams, Delivery and engineering to prioritize and resolve customer issues stemming from customer-initiated and splunk-initiated changes

  • Drive automation and software-defined approaches to reliability and availability

  • Work closely with various groups within the organization to drive efficiencies including authoring of internal tools, runbooks, and advising of standard processes

  • Represent the CloudOps team in meetings regarding process changes and recommendation on new procedures and executions

  • Foster and maintain strong partnerships and positive working relationships with partner teams.

  • Enhance team efficiency and effectiveness by finding opportunities to improve the tools and processes we use.

  • Manage both contractors and full-time employees, assisting in planning and supporting their career development.

  • Aim to collect robust metrics and data to advise operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years actively developing and/or managing cloud-native technologies.

  • 3+ years leading a team in a Cloud Environment.

  • Demonstrable experience in multi-functional collaboration with operations, product, and support teams.

  • Experience with SaaS software products

  • Experience with version control and build management tools, e.g. Perforce, Git.

  • Experience with the Atlassian tool set: JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Stash

  • Experience with CRM Tools: SFDC

  • Experience with scripting languages, e.g. Python, Shell script.

  • Experience with multiple OS environments - Linux, Windows, Mac OSX, various UNIX flavors.

  • Solid attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to prioritize tasks quickly.

  • Excellent follow up and communication skills. Ability to keep things conversational and organized while getting things done.

  • Exposure to Release Engineering / DevOps practices, including automation, configuration management, and release management

  • Technical capability for exploring innovative automation possibilities and enhanced tooling.

  • Experience using data and metrics to advise decision-making

  • Expertise in Agile methodologies

  • Experience in Vendor management

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
