POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Office of General Services, Facilities Maintenance Section. This is a full-time position that works closely with subject-matter experts to provide daily facilities and building management operations activities for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment, perform research, collect data, and create building facility related documents for both internal and external customers. The position also requires excellent facilitation and customer service skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
Representing and serving as the statewide liaison between FDLE and the Department of Management Services (DMS) regarding facility issues related to structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental deficiencies, etc;
Serving as the point of contact between FDLE division liaisons and DMS for all client agency agreements or design professionals in the preparation and development of the project program which serves as the descriptive documents that establishes the project scope. Participates as a member of the Selection Committee in the selection of qualified professional firms and individuals for planning and/or design of assigned projects;
Representing the department at project planning conferences to ensure the project is developed realistically under existing construction methods and budget limitations. Participates in and chairs meetings with architects/engineers and client agencies to ensure sound development of projects;
Acting as the project liaison for Tenant Improvement (TI) projects. This includes:
Initiating paperwork by obtaining quotes from vendor(s) to include a statement of work, before and after drawings;
Submitting Tenant Improvement Request forms to DMS for approval to commence work;
Following up with vendor(s) to ensure all applicable permits are obtained before project begins; and
Ensuring vendor(s) secure Fire Marshals approval (if applicable) before payment is tendered.
Ensuring routine inspections, preventive maintenance, testing and repair of two 600 KW diesel generators with associated fuel supply and fuel monitoring systems, and ensures a maintenance contract is in place with a qualified vendor. Timely responds and facilitates the necessary repair(s) in the event that either or both generators become compromised. Coordinates weekly scheduled tests of generators to ensure both are in good working condition, and maintains a log of all testing; and
Coordinating and preparing Legislative Budget Requests for new construction or facility improvements in conjunction with Business Support Program management. Represents the department throughout this process and keeps management informed on any issues that may arise.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of methods for research, data collection evaluation and analysis, computer systems concepts, and principles and practices of procurement under Chapter 255, Florida Statutes;
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, monitor and inspect building projects and construction program activities, and to communicate engineering information effectively;
Ability to research and interpret literature, rules, and pronouncements;
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to facilities management and procurement, and to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials;
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques, make decisions, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and maintain effective working relationships with others; and
Ability to work independently, and to determine work priorities and ensure completion of assignments.

BASE SALARY:
Minimum starting salary will be between $ 56,650.00 - $65,000. Salary will be commensurate with selected applicant’s work experience .

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
