This General Ledger and Accounting Manager position is within our Global Business Services - Manila located at 11F Five Neo Building Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the organization’s financial reporting, managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing financial analysis and guidance to senior management. It may also involve in coordinating audits, managing budgets, and liaising with external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Drive the execution of all financial reporting, general ledger accounting functions in our Philippines Shared environment and ensure these are completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.

• Responsible for the Performance management of a team of finance professionals, ensuring that the ‘Can do’ process is maintained and setting appropriate and challenging goals in a fast-paced environment.

• Organising the workload for the team and ensuring that the right resources are available and trained to the highest standard.

• Must possess a continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to streamline processes.

• Build and maintain a control environment that will allow for the scaling of operations and ensure that all statutory, SOX and financial reporting requirements are met and exceeded.

• Accountable of the building of Accounting functions within a shared environment

• Must be adaptable to listen to, understand and deliver the key requirements of stakeholders and build an effective structure to deliver this. This will include detail review of key balance sheet accounts and variance review of P&L.

• Performance must be metrics driven and person will be responsible to work with financial management team at other sites to establish, deliver and consistently review a suite of value-add metrics that demonstrate commitment to excellence and a winning mentality.

Be an effective team leader who will drive efficiency and continuous improvement throughout the department.

• Build a team to ensure that there is cover for Team when members are absent when critical deadlines need to be met.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure the preparation of monthly financial reports for defined entity/ region, ensuring they are completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.

• Establish relevant controls and review cadence to ensure accounts are accurate, complaint and delivered in line with close timetables including

  • Balance sheet reviews and consolidated report out on key accounts and variances

  • Establishing a P&L variance review

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP revenue recognition criteria.

• Collaboration with external audit staff for periodic year-end review procedures and local statutory audits as required.

• Key stakeholder in ongoing policy and control environment development to ensure compliance with applicable internal control regulations.

• Enhancement of existing processes and development of new ones to ensure the most efficient completion of duties.

• Provision of technical expertise, support and guidance to the accounting group.

• Develop relationships with both internal and external customers.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science Major in Accountancy or equivalent; CPA and/or MBA preferred.

  • 8 or more years of relevant experience – preferably in General Ledger Functions with Shared Service Centre and multinational corporation background

  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations and best practices

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data to actionable insights.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity

  • SAP or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable.

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills are essential.

  • Knowledge in Korean, Japanese and/or Chinese language/s is an advantage

  • Able to work alone to understand and summarize financial data into high quality, accurate and usable summaries.

  • Strong computer skills especially MS Office

  • Team-oriented, self-starter with the flexibility to work in fast-faced environment with minimal supervision
