Position Description
Tacoma Power's Rates, Planning and Analysis division is looking for a Credit Risk Management Intern to join their team this Summer 2025!
The Intern will get the opportunity to apply their skills and gain valuable experience working with the Energy Risk Management (ERM) team to support a variety of credit risk related projects, including creditworthiness assessments of wholesale energy trading partners, review and documentation of collateral instruments, and supporting the buildout of key credit dashboards. There will be additional opportunities to shadow other functions within Energy Risk Management as well as participate in projects supporting industry research and analysis. The ERM team works closely and collaboratively with Tacoma Power’s wholesale trading function, affording the Intern broad exposure to wholesale energy trading and risk management mechanics.
Responsibilities Include:
Support the Credit Analyst in completing creditworthiness reviews of wholesale energy trading partners
Assist in the internal review and documentation of collateral instruments
Support the development of an enhanced credit risk management database
Collaborate with the Credit Analyst on industry research projects
The expected duration of the internship 40 hours per week for approx. 12 weeks in Summer of 2025.
Qualifications
Minimum Education*
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience*
1 year of post-high school training

*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Knowledge & Skills
Familiarity with financial statement analysis
Effective at problem solving & research
Effective oral and written communication
Strong organizational skills
Ability to use software such as the Microsoft 365 Suite of programs
Effective communication and listening skills
Desired Skills:
Proficiency in Tableau
College Junior or Senior or recent graduate in the Business, Economics, Finance, or Mathematics fields

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
