Midstate Spring, Inc. Machinist/Tool Maker in Syracuse, New York
Sharpening of die sections, punches and cut off tools.Make or repair parts and fixtures for different manufacturing operationsMake accurate tooling that is used in dies, cassettes and complex fixtures.Able to properly use and operate basic tool room machinery ( mill, grinders, lathes, band saw, etc…) and basic CNC machining.Knowledge/Experience in how to use measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gages, comparator, scales, etc…)Knowledge/Experience in how to read a blue print.Shop related math skills.Knowledge/Experience in heat treatment for tool steel.Able to understand the various types of tool steel (0-1, A-2, D-2, etc…) and how to use them properly.Knowledge using oxygen / acetylene torches.Knowledge in basic die making.Experience, Skills and Abilities: Basic computer skills required, CAD drawing a plusMust have strong work ethic and attention to detailSelf-motivated.Ability to multi-task.Education & Knowledge:A High School diploma, is required, and a 2 year degree is strongly preferred.Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.Superior interpersonal communication skills a must.Must work well under pressure.
