Amazon Australia's statutory compliance and reporting team is searching for an financial reporting professional who consistently exceeds expectations, who thrives in a challenging workplace, and who can actively contribute to our talented team.

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager and Senior Legal Entity Lead to own the end-to-end statutory reporting, audit process and controllership for countries including Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Bangladesh and Cambodia. The successful candidate will partner with stakeholders across the global accounting, finance and tax organization to drive process improvement and automation initiatives, support business expansion and projects, review and understand financial performance, and assist in the identification of standards for global consistency. This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to senior leadership across geographies and time zones.

Key job responsibilities

  • Leading annual financial statement preparation and audits across the region.

  • Reviewing local GAAP financial reporting close.

  • Supporting business expansion across the region.

  • Evaluating, documenting and working with regional and US accounting teams to conclude on the local GAAP accounting for significant business events.

  • Driving continuous improvement and identify, design and implement scalable processes.

  • Developing and implementing best practices that can be used globally.

  • Identifying, articulating and communicating project and accounting operation risks to leadership, along with clear recommendations for resolution or mitigation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or CPA and 7+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience

  • 5+ years of controllership or compliance experience

  • 5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • Experience managing financial or tax audits; or preparing external facing financial statements.

  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP and ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accountants.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and proven ability to work with team across the world.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects

  • Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis

  • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

  • Experience with Oracle, Essbase, TM1 and similar tools

  • Experience in Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)
