The Opportunity:

The Contract and Business Support Officer is accountable under general direction to perform delegated tasks and achieve the desired outcomes within an integrated workforce.

They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Undertake contract management and procurement activities and raising of purchase orders using the Defence financial system and ASDEFCON Contracting suite.

  • Draft complex contract documentation including Contract Change Proposals, Requests for Tender, manage procurement planning, tendering, tender evaluation, negotiations, contract formation and contract management activities while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.

  • Manage procurement lifecycle on contracting activities including coordination of legal and financial services.

  • Draft complex contracting correspondence including providing high level advice in relation to commercially sensitive reports, submissions, solicitation documentation, contract change proposals and other documents as required.

  • Apply legal and commercial risk principles and performance management frameworks related to procurement and contracting activities.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential:

  • Have an Australian Government security clearance of Baseline (or above) and be able and willing to obtain an NV1

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant legal, business or commercial field or minimum 5 years experience in a similar position;

  • Demonstrated experience and practical knowledge of ASDEFCON contracts;

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Negative Vetting 1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
