IHG Assistant Night Manager in Sydney, Australia

Assists in managing the entire hotel operation during night shift and maintaining hotel security and guest experience. Delivers high level product quality and ensures optimum service is provided to all hotel guests in line with IHG’s Brand Standards.

To be the main communication point of the hotel by providing and coordinating a rapid response to all guest requests, inquiries and needs, as well as assigning work orders to appropriate personnel.

To identify and anticipate guest needs by ensuring complete guest satisfaction. Key relationships will include Front Office, Reservations, Finance, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food and Beverage and all other departments.

Your Day to Day

  • Conduct the Night Audit process as per Night Manager’s checklist.

  • Ensure that the credit policy of the hotel is upheld and all Credit Card Terminals have balanced to the Property Management System (PMS)

  • Complete and distribute appropriate reports to the relevant departments as per Night Audit checklist

  • Maintain efficient internal control procedures to assist in the prevention of theft or fraud.

  • In the absence of other hotel departments provide a variety of guest services including but not restricted to Room Service, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Reception and Reservations.

  • Leading role in on-boarding and training new Night team members and coaches staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance

  • Assists in planning for future staffing needs

  • Regularly communicates with employees, maintaining good relations improving team engagement

  • Play a leading role for the culture in within the team and hotel environment

  • Responds to situations to ensure guests receive prompt attention and personal recognition throughout the hotel

  • Maintain a 100% IHG Rewards Club Recognition and drive culture on all different guest touch points.

  • Assist front office personnel in check in and check out during the night shift.

What We Need From You

  • Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in either Front Office or Food & Beverage preferably within a hotel/hospitality environment. Experience within both would be an advantage

  • Qualifications in Hotel Management and/or in Business Administration related field preferred

  • Valid NSW, Responsible Service of Alcohol Certification, First Aid Qualifications and Drivers License are required

  • System savvy, you’ll have experience using hotel property management and point of sale systems and be able to share your expertise with the team

  • Flexibility – early, late, weekend, night and holiday shifts are all part of the job

  • Passionate about guest services, team player, excellent communication skills
