Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer, Manufacturing Data Analytics in Hawthorne, California

Description

As a member of a compact team, your responsibilities will involve playing an integral role in the creation and development of a highly sophisticated and scalable data collection system. This will involve overseeing data pipelines from Amazon factories and suppliers, ensuring data quality, establishing a scalable data storage and data lake system, implementing APIs, and creating dashboards. Possessing proficiency in data science, AI/ML technologies will be highly advantageous, as they will enable the extraction of valuable insights from vast amounts of raw data.

Key job responsibilities

The Full-Stack SDE should be familiar with all of the web application components (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, CSS, API, Database), infrastructure (e.g., hardware and software) and their integration. The ideal candidate will be part of the team developing overall architecture and high- level design. The candidate must have extensive experience with building applications, rest APIs, and working with relational/NoSQL databases. The individual is expected to build efficient, flexible, extensible, and scalable web applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as the candidate will work very closely with diverse teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Apply knowledge of AWS technologies to design and build an integrated data pipeline, data storage and analytics solution to support business analysts and data scientists

  • Be part of architectural design and implementation of next generation AI/ML technologies, including natural language queries

  • Ensure scalability, system performance, and availability to support large data ingestion/analytics from our world-wide manufacturing sites

  • Participate in agile development process and provide input and recommendations to the project manager

  • Develop implementation and operation support plans

  • Mentor and develop other SDEs.

A day in the life

The candidate will be responsible for participating in functional requirements reviews, creating detailed design documentation, taking part in sprint planning and execution, code reviews, designing test cases, and ensuring the final deliverables delight and meet customer expectations. Our team is a small but customer-focused group of about eight developers. We have a shared enthusiasm for crafting products that improve real-time transparency throughout our Device's supply chain. Our strong passion lies in eliminating unnecessary work, automating processes, inventing innovative solutions, and simplifying tasks for the benefit of our customers. We work closely with a large stakeholder community that ensures Amazon devices consistently meet the highest standards of quality and performance, irrespective of their manufacturing location.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Competent in Python and SQL, AWS knowledge is highly preferred; AI/ML experience is a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
