This Business Development role offers a unique opportunity to drive the strategy and execution of critical technical partnerships for next-generation of Amazon products. You will work closely with senior leadership, product development, and engineering teams to deliver a broad set of diverse strategic partnerships to solve significant customer problems through innovative technology solutions.

The ideal candidate has solid business judgment, with a track record of success working in ambiguous environments to close highly complex, non-standard technical deals, while building strong partnerships.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of Amazon’s Devices & Services team in helping to define business strategies.

  • Deliver business development strategies for first generation, new-to-world products

  • Establish and execute plans for engaging with partners, including researching and prioritizing partners, negotiating agreements, and managing ongoing relationships.

  • Align partner activities with internal marketing, product, legal and engineering teams.

  • Prepare and deliver business reviews outlining progress and roadblocks for senior management.

About the team

The Amazon Devices and Services group delivers delightfully unique Amazon experiences, giving customers instant access to digital and physical products and services. As a Principal Business Development Manager, you will define, develop and grow key Amazon relationships and drive the strategy and execution of strategic partnerships for next-generation devices and services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated competence in working independently to structure, negotiate, and close deals with companies of all sizes

  • Ability to communicate with and influence both technical and non-technical audiences

  • 7+ years business development experience in the high-tech industry

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically, innovatively and creatively, and juggle multiple priorities to make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; strong bias for action

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and make decisions, and articulate complex concepts to cross-functional audiences

  • Demonstrated high judgement and willingness to roll up sleeves to do what is necessary to meet team goals

  • Master’s degree in engineering, physical or biological sciences, and/or MBA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $158,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $262,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
