The Opportunity

This Software Engineer I position works out of our Sunnyvale (CA) location, contract to hire.

What You’ll Work On

Software Engineer I works under general supervision, performs specialized level software project activities in such areas as Development, Tools, Test, Requirements and/or related areas. Assignments may include, but are not limited to, analyzing requirements, planning and scheduling data, updating and maintaining different software specifications based on analysis of specifications, needs and improvements, as well as troubleshooting, debugging, and maintaining of software, test, or tool designs, cases, scripts, procedures, and/or code based on strategic analysis. Work requires the application of theoretical engineering principles, evaluation, ingenuity and creative/analytical techniques typically acquired in a recognized four-year or more academic course of specialized study. Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems in a creative manner unique to each study. Exercises level appropriate technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, and/or coordinating engineering work.

  • Strong SQL Skills

  • Design, secure, and maintain data structures

  • Data Management - Create and Design systems/structures for complex data analysis

  • Review, validate and enhance logical database designs

  • Database Structure/DDL Analysis and Comparisons

  • Backup and recovery

  • Database Tunning - Identify and Enhance Database Robustness

  • Database administration activities, such as creations, modifications, enhancements, deployments, and capacity planning of database(s)

  • Provides technical support and assistance to Systems analysts and Sr. Systems Analysts in the design and tuning of computer applications

  • Provides in-depth technical expertise related to the ongoing maintenance and support of the database software (i.e.: Oracle, Postgres SQL, SQL/SERVER)

  • Conducts database performance monitoring and capacity planning

  • Install, test and upgrade database releases and associated products

  • Assists in diagnosing database-related issues (e.g., database outages, application performance and workaround solutions)

  • Assist in developing database standards and procedures

  • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of new database software, utilities, and tools

  • Database Security / RBAC

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline, computer science, related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 3 years of hands-on development experience in designing and implementation of applications using Java or C#

  • Experience with any Object-Oriented Programming like Java or C#, multi-threading, formal software development methodologies, and source code management.

  • Working knowledge on Linux operating system

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance

Preferred

  • Strong in Core Java/object-oriented programming principles, multithreaded applications, Design Patterns, and their practical implementation.

  • Design and implement software using core Java (J2SE application coding as well as GUI development using SWING).

  • Experience with unit- testing.

The base pay for this position is $55,200.00 – $110,400.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
