Job Description
HII Mission Technologies is currently seeking an Air Domain Concept of Operations (CONOPS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Joint Staff J7 (JS J7) Joint Warfighting Development (JWD) Director’s Futures and Concepts Division in Suffolk, Virginia. The Air Domain CONOPS SME will serve as an on-site SME providing air domain expertise in support of the development of strategic and operational level concepts and CONOPS for the Joint Force of the future.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Serve on a broad multi-disciplinary team of operational military SMEs and operations research analysts conducting future Joint Force CONOPS research and development
Strong knowledge of current and emerging operational requirements and capabilities of the Combatant Commands, Services, the Joint Staff and other warfighting commands, as well as operational and tactical experience with air domain warfighting activities
Develop US Joint Air Operations CONOPS and incorporate emerging warfighting concepts into a joint, all-domain environment approach
Contribute expertise during the conduct of studies for senior-level military decision makers for use in CONOPS development and projected force structure design and targeted technology insertion.
Lead small teams or tasks in support of the broader overall effort
Travel in support of FCD priorities
Minimum Qualifications
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
Minimum 10 years of current air domain CONOPS execution and/or development experience
Strong background in Joint all-domain operations, specifically focused in the air domain
Expert knowledge/experience in Joint warfighting capabilities, advanced weapons, current and future operational concepts, with specific expertise in current air domain capabilities and strategic and operational level CONOPS
Ability to adjust quickly to new organizational, technological, and employment constructs for planning and CONOPs development
Excellent project management and/or Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) skills
Ability to think creatively and function as part of a high-performing team
Ability to coordinate with government and external contractor stakeholders to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify objectives
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Military Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) designation
Direct experience developing concepts of operation and/or courses of action in support of Joint Operational Planning efforts
Ability to work in a secure, confined location
Experience supporting analytical studies of military operations
Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance to be considered for the position and be eligible for Special Access Program (SAP) access
Preferred Requirements
↵SAMS or JAWS graduate preferred
Recent military experience as senior Air Force or Navy Aviator preferred
