Rowan University Research Associate III (Part-Time, Temporary), New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging, Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey
SUMMARY:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced, part time, temporary, Research Associate III who will be responsible for supporting our research activities including performing experiments and generating reliable data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of the Research Associate III include the following.
Performs animal experiments such as controlled cortical impact (CCI) in rodents.
Performs animal behavioral analysis such as water maze, noble object recognition, etc.
Performs laboratory procedures related to histopathology – tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, etc.
Assists with routine laboratory procedures such as immunohistochemistry, western blots, etc.
Maintains laboratory instruments such as tissue processor, tissue embedding center, microtomes, microscopes, etc.
Performs standard laboratory procedures including preparing culture media, reagents, stains, and stock solutions.
Maintains laboratory records, files, and animal colonies.
Understands and adheres to Rowan University compliance standards as they appear in Rowan’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Proven experience performing all the listed essential duties and responsibilities.
Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and statistical software.
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A critical thinker with strong attention to detail.
Outstanding analytical abilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Master's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
This is a part-time, temporary grant funded position, working 15 hours a week.
