Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time administrative experience (student experience will be considered). Experience in student conduct or student affairs working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and/or database systems. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Prior experience in student conduct processes. Working knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, and other laws and expectations related to student conduct work. Experience managing projects, responding to student issues, and/or making appropriate referrals. Administrative skills to include data management, report generation, and/or presentation creation. Experience with a student conduct database system.Brief Description of Duties:
The Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) Coordinator is an integral member of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards serving as a student conduct officer for assigned cases. The incumbent will safeguard and maintain digital case files involving referrals and documents, enter confidential data into the student conduct database, set up appointments, coordinate hearings, prepare and send notice and decision letters and close out cases. The SCCS Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards and is responsible for responding to and managing inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders regarding student conduct, records, university policies and procedures. This position assists in the hiring, training, and supervision of student assistants and provides support to other members of the SCCS team as needed.

  • Student Conduct & Community Standards:
    • Serve as a student conduct officer for assigned student conduct cases.
    • Process referrals of alleged violations of the University Student Conduct to include the following: Establish case files, obtain confidential academic records, enter information into the Student Conduct Database, schedule and coordinate meetings and hearings with individuals involved in a case, ensure proper completion of sanctions and close out cases in the database when the matter is completed.
    • Maintain confidential case files, including archiving and destruction of files in accordance with SUNY and University guidelines.
  • Office Management:
    • Respond to and manage inquiries from students, faculty, staff, parents/families and other stakeholders regarding student conduct, records, university policies and procedures.
    • Monitor office email accounts and troubleshoot/respond to problems/inquiries presented by students, parents/families, faculty, staff and other constituents.
    • Respond to urgent and emergency situations involving students, parents/families and make appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Administrative Support
    • Provide program and administrative support to the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards in the development of written materials, draft correspondence, support Director in conducting research and collecting data, review and summarize assessments and prepare reports, proposals and other official documents.
    • Provide administrative support and office management skills in supporting the overall functions of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards including, but not limited to, budget support, procurement, scheduling meetings and training, serving as a liaison to Procurement, Building Management, Facilities, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure proper operation of the office.
    • Student Supervision:
      • Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of both undergraduate and graduate student staff.
    • Professional Development and Committee Involvement:
      • Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e. classes, training, committee, webinar, etc.).
      • Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas outside of your unit/department (i.e. campus wide traditions, events, programs, etc.).
      • Other duties and projects are assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. *Evening and weekend work may be required at times.

    Special Notes:
    This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed.
