Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Seven years of full-time professional experience in an undergraduate admissions office at a college or university. Professional staff supervision experience. Proficiency with technology, office software and communication systems. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Experience in an undergraduate admissions office engaging with students and families. Experience in reviewing undergraduate applications for admission and making recommendations for admission. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience and knowledge with higher education technology platforms, i.e., SLATE. Experience with program planning, implementation, assessing and innovating to enhance programs.Brief Description of Duties:
The associate director will work with senior leaders to enhance and grow our campus visit and experience programs, both on and off campus as well as virtually. This position will work on expanding recruitment and outreach across markets through events and programs designed in consultation with campus partners. The associate director maintains close relationships with faculty and staff across campus and external educational partners and helps to generate new programs. The associate director will provide day to day oversight of professional staff members including coaching and evaluation while also managing program budgets. This position will work with a team of approximately 30 professional staff members and may engage with student employees. Essential to this position will be experience with conflict resolution, collaboration and relationship building.Duties:

  • Builds campus visits and experiences plans based on office and university goals that may include in person and virtual programs and experiences.
  • Collaborates with admissions senior leaders and staff in maintenance, promotion, and operations of the Seawolf Welcome Center.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff member(s).
  • Hires staff and develops performance standards and performs annual evaluations for professional and support staff.
  • Develops and monitors staff training and development programs.
  • Has regular staff meetings to strengthen communication and performance. Assists in cross training of office staff.
  • Completes special assignments or duties as assigned and engages in office and unit committees.
  • Supports professional staff in hiring, training, and assessing student employees.
  • Collaborates and leads conversations with the team on enhancing campus tour and event experience including tour scripts, routes, registration, and training, as well as associated needs, i.e. presentations, staff training, AV/technology, marketing messages.
  • Coordinates processes for maintaining comprehensive events and experiences calendar. Manages timelines with support offices to ensure timely delivery of invitations and commitments of university partners for designated programs.
  • Ensures group and bus visit processes and policies are aligned to support targeted efforts and coaches staff on implementation of visits.
  • Supports staff in creation, execution, and implementation of territory and/or population specific events.
  • Leads assessment of registration and show rates for events and experiences and works proactively to build policies in support of expanding options.
  • Serves as a liaison with campus offices, SUNY representatives, and external organizations related to campus visits and experiences.
  • Engages in holistic evaluation of admissions applications to the university and makes recommendations on applicants; populations may include domestic, transfer, international, honors and other special populations.
  • Manages the program specific budget, ensuring the integrity of financial information, state, and IFR accounts.
  • Responsible for accurate reconciliation of revenues, expenses, and allocations according to established policy.
  • Develops short- and long-term plans for the office regarding staffing, resources, space, and equipment related to campus visits and experiences.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.


Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
