Labman Automation Electrical Technician/Electrical Engineer in Stokesley, United Kingdom

Position: Electrical Technician/Electrical Engineer Location: Labman HQ, Seamer, North Yorkshire Salary: £25,000 - £32,000 (based on experience)

Job Opportunity

Due to the increasing demand for automated systems, Labman is looking to hire enthusiastic, dedicated, and professional electrical engineers and technicians to design and build the electrical system on our robots for clients across the globe. They will also research new electrical products, techniques and approaches, verify and validate designs, and support project implementation.

Due to sustained growth Labman are seeking to recruit an electrical technician/electrical engineer to join the team.

Labman deliver bespoke robotics and software systems to major companies and public bodies all over the world. The job will be challenging and dynamic with opportunities to work with a huge range of established and emergent technologies, providing you with opportunities to learn and develop your skillset.

You will be working alongside a dedicated team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers at Labman's HQ in North Yorkshire, UK. It is a creative and innovative environment, full of the latest robotic systems and technology, as well as climbing walls, gym and even a squash court. There will be opportunities to travel, within the UK and worldwide.

What the Job Involves

• Designing the electrical system for bespoke robotic systems. This will include single phase and three phase power circuits, DC power circuits, servo and stepper motors, IO devices, sensors, and safety circuits including door interlocks, emergency stop buttons and safety relays.

• Drawings are prepared in SEE Electrical, considering the necessary function of the robot. This requires close cooperation with other team members, including the mechanical and software engineers.

• Understanding, interpreting and wiring from complex electrical drawings. The successful candidate will be required to complete panel wiring, neatly loom and label cables and pneumatic lines, and wire peripheral hardware according to electrical drawings. The successful candidate will ensure that the physical wiring of the robot accurately reflects the drawing pack, whilst also maintaining Labman's build standards, and other standards such as EN 60204-1.

• Communicating project status, issues and requirements with project leaders and senior staff.

• Suggesting, documenting and implementing changes to Labman's procedures and build standards.

Essential Capabilities

• Minimum of HNC Level 4 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience

• Able to interpret IEC circuit diagrams

• Able to understand and interpret component datasheets

• Fault-finding skills

• Good communication skills

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

• Able to manage own time effectively and manage task lists

• Attention to detail

Desirable skills / Experience

• Experience with SEE Electrical or another electrical drawing package to produce enclosure layout and circuit diagrams

• Able to calculate electrical loads

• Able to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and signal generators

• Experience with industrial fieldbuses

• Basic soldering skills

• Knowledge of functional safety and relevant standards, ideally ISO 13849
