Hill International is seeking a Safety Manager in Stockton, California
Be present on-site during active construction, perform a site walk and advise the CM/PgM and RE on any safety deficiencies or improvements.
Produce and safety site report and job hazard analysis that includes any findings and how they are to be resolved. [This should be done in cooperation with the contractor's safety manager].
Advise CM on any urgent safety matters that need attention.
Review and advise on safety related documents and submittals (specifications and other safety records, as required.)
Oversee and audit construction safety, evaluate site risk and readiness of contractors and sub-contractors.
Submit Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Safety reports as required.
Monitor compliance to all current Cal-OSHA and railroad safety requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
Report to the CM, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings or providing safety reports/analysis as requested.
Immediately notify the CM of any incident or recordable injury on projects and support the established communication plan.
Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate safety report for all project site visits with focus on keeping the owner's field staff safe.
Identify site safety hazards and provide immediate direction to contractor safety representative to eliminate or mitigate them.
Perform reviews and inspections of the jobsite to assure compliance with health and safety regulations and applicable codes.
Participate in site inspections and testing as necessary for required permits, including confined space, hot work, trenching, etc.
Coordinate with the Contractor Safety Representative on an on-going basis and provide coaching and assistance as required.
During construction, coordinate and meet periodically with the Contractor's safety representative.
Confirm that contractors are performing tailgate safety meetings, on-track daily safety orientations with the RWIC and training as required by their Contract and/or OSHA requirements.
Attend pre-construction meetings to present safety program and the role of the field safety representative.
Conduct or support project safety 'stand-downs' with all crews to review the incident for injuries. Educate all site workers on how to prevent a repeat accident.
Share client's and contractor's safety culture through interaction with all assigned safety personnel.
Additional duties as assigned by the CM.
Minimum 7 to 10 years construction/safety experience in the type of work being performed.
Construction management, safety management, safety engineer or related degree is preferred.
Understanding of railroad and civil construction terminology. Structural, mechanical and building construction safety oversight experience is a plus.
Completed OSHA training courses.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of behavioral based safety leadership.
Ability to work independently and in group settings.
Experience on large construction program.
Proficiency with Microsoft office and related spreadsheet and database software.
Ability to work in fast paced environment.
Additional safety/health certifications and credentials.
The salary range for this position is $140,000-$170,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
