Right now, our Combat Mission Systems team in Sterling Heights is hiring multiple Software Engineers excited about real-time, embedded software development and / or testing. The current focus is for software integration and test engineers, but additional needs for software developers are expected in the near future.

The Senior Software Engineer plans and performs a variety of tasks across the areas of integrating hardware modules into a combat vehicle system, integrating software items onto Linux Operating Systems, scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening and scans, troubleshooting, problem solving, and software verification testing.

As a Senior Software Engineer , you will:

  • Have knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.

  • Have experience working on programs involving the development, maintenance, upgrade and porting of embedded product software and/or product support software to enhance, implement and support project/system functionality for the assigned technical effort.

  • Mentor less experienced software test engineers to help develop their software test capabilities and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Collaborate across the other engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Systems.

  • Ensure that technical approach is consistent with established engineering principles and practices.

  • Ensure that product outcomes meet customer needs and that customer and company technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements are met.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s degree in STEM field

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience including software integration and test; developing, analyzing, and/or reviewing requirements for safety critical real-time embedded software; integration of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux; experience with Computer Networks (switches, VLAN, protocols); and testing and troubleshooting communication protocol software (CAN, Serial, Ethernet)

  • Ability to build and maintain a software and hardware integration testbed

  • Use version control and issue tracking tools

  • Good programming skills (C , Python, BASH)

  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are a MUST

  • May consider candidates who do not meet all the above requirements for a more junior role or additional experience for a more senior role

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience developing tests using NI Software (TestStand, VeriStand, and/or LabView)

  • Git and Jira/Gitlab Configuration Management tools

  • Familiarity with traceability across software requirements, design, and verification artifacts

  • Familiarity with UML modeling tools and DOORS

  • Familiarity with CMMI for development

  • Familiarity with Qt Framework for front end GUIs

  • Familiarity with Ethernet based protocols (SSL/TLS, SSH, SFTP)

  • Familiarity with Nessus and Coverity cybersecurity scans

  • Familiarity with hardening of systems and applying STIG rules

  • Familiarity with the configuration and use of virtual machines

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $92290 - $156860

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
