Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Job Description A BHT provides one-to-one Applied Behavior Analysis interventions to children and adolescents between the ages of 2-21 years old who are diagnosed with a qualifying disability of Autism, ADHD, ODD, Disruptive Behavior Disorder, etc.

The BHT works in the Therapy Center, at schools, homes, or daycare settings with their assigned clients. Travel between client locations is a requirement of the job, and mileage is reimbursed at IRS Rate. The BHT will create materials and activities to promote skill development, communication, and independence with their client based on their Individual Treatment Plan. The BHT will complete documentation and collect data on the behaviors and skills that the client engages in during sessions.

The BHT is provided training in Applied Behavior Analysis, Crisis Management, and Autism related topics prior to working with their clients. The BHT will assist in daily living skills, such as feeding, toileting, or dressing as determined by client needs.

BHTs are supervised by Licensed Behavior Consultants and/or Board Certified Behavior Analysts and receive direct supervision by their Case Supervisor a minimum of 6% of their hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides face-to-face behavioral interventions. Implements Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP).
  • Provides support to parents, teachers, and community individuals.
  • Delivers and models treatment interventions.
  • Provides positive reinforcement to the clients and families.
  • Implements consequences for inappropriate actions as agreed upon.
  • Communicates with peers and co-workers and exchanges information which is important in achieving the individual goals for the clients.
  • Setting and adhering to professional boundaries with all clients and families.
  • Provides culturally aware and competent service provision.
  • Completes initial training curriculum as per company requirements and guidelines and state regulatory standards.

TRAVEL

  • This position requires travel up to 10-15% of the time with clients being no more than 30 minutes from staff's home, unless specifically agreed upon. Drive time between multiple clients is paid at a drive time hourly rate and mileage is reimbursed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

Must have or be able to obtain PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Clearances (required prior to start date).

The BHT shall meet one of the following:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the provision of behavioral health services.
  • Have a certification as a BCaBA, RBT, IBT, or BCAT
  • Have completed 40 hours of Registered Behavior Technician Training

Preference given to those pursuing credentials in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, and supervision by board certified behavior analyst(s) towards required hours is provided at no cost to employee.

Full Time BHT position starts as hourly and after 3 months initial probationary period may receive a raise, in addition to being eligible for benefits.
