United Rentals Sr. Programmer Analyst in Stamford, Connecticut

As a Sr. Programmer Analyst at United Rentals, you will be an integral part of the technology team. You will focus on designing, developing, optimizing and testing applications for the mobile, database, web and/or ERP spaces.

What you’ll do:

Development

  • Convert requirements into design using combinations of custom objects, formula fields and workflows all working together as a final completed solution.

  • Work closely with business and management on translating product and business requirements, to technical requirements aiding in the development and implementation of the same.

  • Design, develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot cross platform applications and mobile, web based applications using OpenSearch / ElasticSearch , AngularJS, JQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, SQL Server, XAML and additional programming languages and software

  • Elicit and analyze user specifications and requirements

  • Design applications architecture combining custom objects, formula fields and workflow packages as complete synchronous applications

  • Design data models and normalization techniques.

  • Test post-development functionality and identify gaps in application workflow management

  • Test system modules interaction for conflict and user interface

  • Review, analyze and govern data using multiple source SQL

  • Design dashboards/reports for operations management and incorporate comments into improved reporting modules

  • Review existing applications and improve user accessibility and utilization

  • Analyze data element measurability and manage data archiving

  • Oversee information management technology optimization projects for assigned businesses

  • Formulate and document system and application enhancement recommendations

  • Troubleshoot system failures and data discrepancies

  • Define and execute unit-test cases and regression tests to support bug fixes and upgrade implementation

  • Maintain complete SDLC documentation including functional requirements, design specifications, test plans and test scripts.

  • Drive core team processes to project success, through technical contributions

  • Provide technical leadership and direction, balancing short and long-term technology investments

  • Coordinate and perform system upgrades, administration, monitoring, and maintenance

  • Provide leadership and liaises with internal and external developers and follows up to completion on IT issues

Project support

  • Manage on-going expansion and IT improvement processes for assigned businesses

  • Provide leadership and liaises with internal and external developers and follows up to completion on IT issues

Application support

  • Aid in the Level 2 support of applications, troubleshooting system failures and data discrepancies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or engineering preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • 6+ years of experience spanning software engineering and technical leadership

  • Expertise with web technologies, mobile application development, database development, ETL processes like SSRS/ SSIS, Python, HTML, CSS, Java Script and distributed system development

  • Knowledge of the scripting language such as Unix

  • Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design optimized for large-scale distributed software systems

  • Localization and Internationalization experience and proficiency in French or Spanish is an asset
