Spectrum Paralegal I in Stamford, Connecticut

JOB SUMMARY This position assists in the more efficient operation of the law department by undertaking a variety of paraprofessional duties. This role requires a basic knowledge of legal concepts and practices.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Investigate the factual support for transactions or litigation, including the preparation of exhibits, charts and diagrams

Collect, review and draft legal documents, correspondence and other materials of basic complexity

Maintain and update electronic transaction and litigation files, including research, pleadings, discovery, and/or contract documents

Monitor case schedules and filing deadlines

Summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimonies

Obtain, organize, and serve as point of contact for due diligence, litigation or projects

Input and update information into the legal database

Schedule and participate in witness interviews

May serve as liaison for internal clients, law firms, state and federal agencies, vendors, and customers

Perform other duties as requested

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Proficiency with Microsoft software Demonstrated organization skills and attention to detail Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters Legal research and investigative skills Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills Demonstrated time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment

Required Education Paralegal certification or American Bar Association Approved curriculum required or Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or related field or equivalent experience preferred

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years 0 to 2 years paralegal experience
