You will be part of a team that defines the HVDC & AC control & protection hardware, system architectures and associated documentation in line with customer requirement.
As a part of the Reference solution team, your solution in tendering would be a foundation of efficient and good quality project delivery.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Analyse in depth customer specification, identify gaps, raise clarifications & build solid technical solution to cater to customer requirement for HVDC & AC control & protection system.
Play a key role in engineering design reviews and technical leadership, identifying potential project risks and technical weaknesses and proposing safe, reliable and compliant solutions.
Perform preliminary dynamic performance studies in various simulation tools (MATLAB, PSCAD etc.).
Prepare control, protection and sequencing strategy specifications.
In coordination with systems team, design/contribute to AC substation Single line diagrams, operation modes & sequencing.
Knowledge of network and latest protocols (like IEC 61850) and basic understanding of hardware architecture.
In coordination with cybersecurity expert, analyse compliance to cybersecurity standards and their implementation in the network.
Coordinate with internal and external partners to provide a complete solution with clear division of responsibility.
Provide input data like auxiliary consumption, cubicle/equipment list to partners.
Prepare technical specifications for sourcing and validation of offers received.
Lead the discussions during customer meetings / workshops.
Plan & ensure on-time delivery of engineering documents and cost estimates.
Evaluate risks and opportunities & proposes mitigation measures.
Contribute to continuous improvement by participating & promoting standardisation of tools, documents, solutions & equipment.
Provide mentorship/trainings to junior engineers.
Follow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.
Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes in EMH.
Cross functional training across teams (Control Automation Systems, Control System Application, Protection System Application, Secondary engineering) will be provided.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
Degree in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field.
Advanced and demonstrated experience in control and protection system design.
Knowledge of Electrical Substation and its HV, LV equipment and Auxiliary Systems.
An excellent background on Electrical power system protection & control.
Experience in PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools.
Experience in working with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, e-base, Microsoft Visio.
A sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risks.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, experienced in creating and presenting technical reports and responding to clients’ technical questions.
Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements.
Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution.
