The Petroleum Tank Release Cleanup Fund (Petrofund) Program of the Minnesota Department of Commerce helps eligible applicants to pay for investigating and cleanup from leaking Petroleum storage tanks.

This position supports the Petrofund by completing the following tasks: Reviewing and processing Petrofund reimbursement applications as assigned to determine eligibility and reasonableness of requested costs, coordinating the Petrofund Programs efforts to recover from responsible persons their share of costs to cleanup contamination from leaking petroleum storage tanks, reviewing and processing consultant and contractor registration, serving as the primary reception contact for Petrofund, and other duties as assigned by the Petrofund Director.

Minimum Qualifications

1 (one) year of experience performing analysis, exercising judgment, and relying on knowledge in an analytical or cost recovery environment.

OR

3 (three) years of experience in an area that supports an analytical or cost recovery environment.

Applicants who meet the above experience will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Strong analytical skills evaluating and implementing data.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain working relationships with program stakeholders, and staff.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience working with the Petrofund Program and the laws/statues/rules governing it. MN Statute 115C and MN Rule 2890

-Experience working with environmental consulting firm that performs Petrofund-related work

-Experience working with the state of MN cost recovery process.

-Experience working with interagency coordination

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
