Job Description
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing a productive and safe open computer lab environment, giving instruction and consultation to students, faculty and staff with various IT-related questions, and providing training and supervision to IT student employees.
Job Duties:
Maintain a productive and safe open computer lab environment that is conducive to learning.
Provide training, direction and supervision to open computer lab work study.
Provide computer lab and classroom customer service (to college faculty, staff, students, and guests) as the first point of contact for the Service Desk by supporting the operation of campus-provided technologies.
Ensure the open computer lab technology is functioning properly and is maintained.
Provide assistance and support with the student printing system.
Provide backup IT Service Desk support to the campus community.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $21.57 - $30.13 hourly.
Minimum Qualifications:
Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in an information technology/computer careers field AND 1 year of teaching/tutoring experience in an information technology/computer careers field at the high school level or above.
OR
4 years of work experience in the information technology/computer careers field.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and Internet.
Knowledge or experience to troubleshoot, install, maintain, and setup computer hardware and software.
Experience providing computer and software support to end users.
Knowledge or experience using and performing basic troubleshooting on printers and copiers.
Ability to collaborate and communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators with varying technical knowledge and skills.
Ability to work as a team member in a diverse environment.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and work a flexible schedule that adjusts during non-class days.
Working experience at a Minnesota State institution.
Working experience in a higher education student computer lab.
Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Experience supporting Brightspace or other learning management systems.
Familiarity with Macintosh systems.
