Job Overview
Fairview has an exciting Remote opportunity for a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Liaison role!
This is a 1.0 (80 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening.
This is an advanced level position utilizing ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 PCS Coding Classification systems and is responsible for design, implementation, and monitoring of facility physician education around clinical documentation integrity for the Fairview system. The CDI Liaison is focused on quality and support including quality assurance checks and education for inpatient providers and CDI specialists to support the enterprise goal of accurate, specific, consistent, and complete Hospital Coding & Billing. This work will involve the use of provided CDI software and other technical tools to assist and enhance the CDI Program efforts. The CDI Liaison's will also be working with Governance Taskforces to address documentation issues and functionality as well as education with nursing and ancillary staff to assist in clinical support of the provider documentation as appropriate documentation assists in improving the organizational financial performance.
Work with providers, advance practice practitioners, clinical departments, CDI, and Coding staff to accurately document and report the patient’s medical condition and illness severity.
Educate staff to improve performance on risk-adjusted CMS mortality measures and monitor metrics to identify areas of growth opportunity.
Monitor reimbursement impact after education.
Educate providers on documentation guidelines.
Assist in physician documentation templates for diagnosis and procedures.
Assist in education to capture Hierarchical Condition Categories, quality initiatives, severity of illness measures, risk of mortality measures, patient safety indicators, observed-to-expected (o/e) rates.
Capture and report educational time metrics.
Analyzes data, documentation, and workflows related to the quality and accuracy of CDI staff work and provider documentation performance related to CDI/HB Coding to identify trends and opportunities for education.
Completes quality assurance checks on CDI Specialists basis based on best practice and reports finding regularly.
Creates and presents educational content for CDI staff in coordination with CDI leadership.
Creates and presents educational content for providers (orientation and ongoing education). Coordinates with program administrators to schedule orientation sessions for provider onboarding.
Creates and presents information for leadership and faculty meetings of Service Lines/Domains.
Maintains an advanced level of understanding related to CDI and HB Coding rules and compliance.
Attends and completes educational sessions and webinars as appropriate to support personal understanding. Cascades pertinent information from these sessions to the CDI staff.
Actively participate in CDI workstreams and improvement tasks as assigned.
Support and assist CDI staff during back-logs or as assigned.
Works collaboratively with CDI leadership, Physician Advisor/or designated physician leadership, and others to ensure issues are tracked, monitored, and resolved for compliance and program advancement

Required Qualifications:
Education
- Associate degree (or higher) in Nursing or Health Information Management (HIM) degree or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience
- At least 2 years as a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist
License/Certification/Registration
- One of the following: RHIT, RHIA or RN
Preferred
Education
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Nursing or Health Information Management (HIM) or related filed or equivalent experience
Experience
- 5 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist.
License/Certification/Registration
- · One of the following: CCDS, CDIS, CDIP, CDEI, CCS, CPC, CCDSO or CCIO

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE).
