This position provides support for N-tiered custom and COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) applications used by Health Licensing Board (HLB) and MBCC organizations. It ensures the smooth operation of applications across various technologies, primarily .NET/IIS and JAVA/Tomcat. In this role, you will be involved in coordinating with MNIT HLB and MNIT MBCC staff, application vendors, MNIT Enterprise Teams, and agency users to maintain system performance, resolve technical issues, and manage vendor support contacts. Additionally, this position will collaborate with leadership to support application planning and enhancements.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Saint Paul, Minnesota

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in supporting, troubleshooting, and optimizing N-tier application systems.

Experience must include:

  • Experience with N-tier application architecture including presentation, application, and database tiers, and technologies.

  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting enterprise-level application systems and infrastructures, including web servers, middleware, and databases.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues across multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, virtual environments, and networks.

  • Experience coordinating or participating in system upgrades and enhancements.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting applications in virtualized environments and managing applications across multiple data centers and cloud environments.

  • Familiarity with government agency IT operations and experience supporting or managing IT systems within a government context.

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across multiple platforms, including Linux, Windows, IIS, .NET, ASP, SQL Server, and Oracle.

  • Experience working with stakeholders and leadership to develop solutions, resolve disputes, and advocate for technical recommendations.

  • Experience collaborating with vendors, enterprise teams, and end-users to ensure the stability and performance of IT systems.

  • Planning and organizational skills to support application upgrades, ensure system stability, and evaluate future hosting options.
